Murdoch James is regarded as Martinborough’s best winery experience – make a time to call in for a taste and a chat, and find out why! We at Murdoch James Estate are very keen to enhance the wine
and visit experiences of all wine lovers, whether novices or connoisseurs. That is why visitors will always meet
capable and friendly hosts at Cellar Door - usually these folk are our family
members or experienced team members. We are open every day of the year, between 11.00am
and 5.00pm, except Christmas, Boxing Day and Easter Friday. Our fantastic restaurant is open for lunch year round - reservations are recommended, particularly in the busy summer months. Casual Wine Tasting Between 11.30am and 5.00pm, our Cellar Door is open for walk-in tastings and sales. During your visit, we will present wines that are on current release. The service fee is $5 per person, refundable on any 3 bottle purchase. Please note that due to space limitations, the maximum walk-in group is 10 persons. For larger groups, it is important that these be pre-booked, and are subject to staff and space availability. If extra staff are required to host large groups, the fee is $8 per person Guided Wine Tasting If you would like to add value to your Cellar Door visit, and enjoy a privately hosted tasting in which we discuss each of the wines in detail, while sharing our wine-tasting techniques and appreciation secrets, book a guided wine tasting. During the discussion we explore the reasons why Martinborough has become NZ's leading premium wine region, and why boutique vineyards offer so much. This tasting includes our reserve and premium wines. Cost is $10 per person. Bookings recommended. Exclusive
