Holiday Accommodation on the Murdoch James Estate Vineyard Enjoy a relaxing time staying in the Winemakers Cottage at Murdoch James Estate, Martinborough, New Zealand.This cottage was the original 1920’s farmhouse, beautifully renovated in 2003. There are two queen-sized bedrooms, one bathroom with shower, a fully equipped kitchen and a comfortable lounge with wide views of the snow-capped mountains in the distance. From the kitchen and large, private courtyard there are stunning vineyard views Just a short stroll from our vineyard accomodation is the winery and Cellar Door where you can taste a wide range of world class wines in the company of the winemaker, owner or one of the winery team. Next to the Cellar Door is the superb Bloom Restaurant - serving local produce in spectacular surroundings, brunch or lunch here is a must. Reserve a table on the sunny deck and sip a glass of wine while the Dry River trickles past at your feet. Guests staying in the cottage are invited to stroll around the property and take in the vineyard, mountains, river and valley views. While many guest prefer the peaceful, secluded location, using it to unwind and relax, Martinborough Wine Village is just 10 minutes away with many excellent cafes and restaurants. The Martinborough Golf Course is very popular with visitors. There are other activities available like horse riding, four wheel driving, and archery that can all be arranged through the Martinborough Visitor Centre on line. But best of all, it is a fantastic place for quiet walks and reading good books, enjoying fine wine and winding down!!
Breakfast ingredients are provided but this is a self-service accomodation. It is fully furnished and equipped. In the lounge are two large couches, a TV set, a DVD player, a CD player and a selection of DVD's, CD's and books for you to enjoy during your stay. For your comfort, in winter there is a storage heater in the hall that keeps the rooms warm and an extra electric heater for cosiness if needed. Both double beds have electric blankets. All linen and towels supplied. There is also a pull out double sofa bed in the lounge. Children are welcome but unfortunately no pets. The courtyard has plenty of tables
and chairs - spend a lovely evening relaxing outdoors. It is a delightful spot from which to enjoy the spectacular vineyard views.
A drive to Lake Ferry and Cape Palliser is recommended. On the way back, stop for dinner or lunch at the Lake Ferry Hotel, which always offers locally caught seafood, including whitebait, on the menu. Please Note: Should any damage be done to the cottage or it's contents during hirage, the hiring party will be responsible for making good any damage. Murdoch James Estate reserves the right to charge any such damage to the hirer's credit card, subject to provision of appropriate evidence of repair costs having been incurred.
